How to Choose the Right Type of Dental Implant

When it comes to dental implant teeth restoration, getting the right implants is important is you want to get all the full benefits of a dental implant teeth restoration therapy.

Dental implants therapy is the choice solution for many people suffering from tooth loss because with dental implants you are sure of tooth replacement that feels, functions, and looks exactly like the real thing.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically inserted in the jawbone beneath the gums to serve as a foundation for the artificial crown or tooth. Once the titanium post has been inserted and screwed securely, the replacement teeth are placed and secured on top.

How do Dental Implants Work?

Because of the way dental implants are designed to fuse directly to the jawbone, they provide sound support for the artificial tooth. With dentures and bridges, there is the tendency for the artificial tooth to slip, but not so with dentures.

The natural look of dental implants makes them ideal for virtually any function normal teeth will perform, including an improved bite and chewing force.

What’s Involved in Getting a Dental Implant?

Dental implant therapy is a mildly invasive procedure that can be undertaking in one or two stages.

1. Single-stage dental implant procedure: In this procedure, the Subperiosteal implants are inserted in one stage. The implant is surgically inserted on top of the jawbone but leaving enough visible head once the gum around the area has healed. It is on this visible head that the crown or bridge will be attached to several months after, but this will be done without any additional surgery.

2. Double-stage dental implant procedure: With this type of procedure, the Endosteal implants are installed in two stages. The first stage is when the titanium frame is inserted into the jawbone. The area is allowed to heal for a few months after which another minor surgery is carried out where the abutment is attached. This is the supporting piece where the artificial bridge or crown will be attached.

Types of Dental Implants

There are two main types of implants:

· Endosteal dental implants are the most commonly used type of implants. Typically made of titanium and screw-shaped, these implants are inserted directly in the jawbone.

· Subperiosteal dental implants are not as common as Endosteal. This type of implant is typically recommended for people who have a weak or deteriorated jawbone and who do not want to undergo bone augmentation surgery.

Making the right choice

Knowing the difference between dental implants and understanding how each one works is important when it comes to getting your tooth implants because there are few similarities in dental condition and what works for one person may not work for you.

As long as you are working with a tooth replacement specialist, a custom solution will be created to fit your unique situation. During the initial consultation, a dental examination will be carried out to determine the extent of tooth damage and come up with a solution that will fit your needs and budget.

The following tips will help make the decision process easy for you.

Meet Face to Face

After choosing dental implant therapy, the next item on your agenda should be a face-to-face meeting with the specialist. He or she will educate you about the various implants and walk you through the procedure. When narrowing down your list of where to get the implant procedure, be sure to look for a specialist who has enough experience in dental implant surgery. In fact, talk to your local dentist or doctor to get recommendations.

Don’t Rely on Only Costs

Even though the cost of dental implants will play a role in your decision, this should not be your primary deciding factor. While it is true that dental implants are more expensive than any other tooth-replacement solution available, you should also remember that really expensive implants does not necessarily mean better implants.

Talk to the specialist about cost and let him or her explain the different implants and the factors that determine why one is more expensive than the other.

At any point during the conversation, feel free to tell the doctor to highlight and explain in detail anything you do not understand.

How Successful Are Dental Implants?

It is no secret that dental implants are the most successful of all the tooth replacement solutions available. In fact, dental implants have a success rate of up to 98%. However, this success rate depends on a number of factors, such as the dental and physical health of the affected individual and the skill of the tooth replacement specialist.

Conclusion

Dental implants provide a permanent solution to problems caused by missing tooth/ teeth. Not only are dental implants strong and durable, lasting a very long time, they are also indistinguishable from the natural tooth so that no one will be able to tell that you have implants.
